Sam,

In the picture of the 3 women and baby, I would guess that they are my grandmother and great grandmother ( Kuglen.)

Sam You hit the jackpot in your description of Bom Bom. She had an incredible ability to tell a story, true otherwise or poetic. You have her gift as well.
Thank you for remembering her on her birthday. Love to all on this Labor Day Weekend. I am working for the Department of Labor and if you would like to see some great historical photos of Labor Day just tune into www.DOL.gov.

Hey Sam.
How's the new school year? Would anybody be able or knowledgeable enough to make a family tree chart. I'm a little ignorant of the relations to the extended family. Been loving the old family pics and history. Keep it coming.
With love, Zach

Sammy, again---nice work. I love some of the photos. My favorite: The one with GrandPap and a cigar in his mouth. He looks cocky. Kind of like a young Nick Salle. Gray has a bit of that look in him as well.

Hi Sam,
Would you believe that, indeed, Christine Hamm slept there, i.e. at yours and KK's birthplace in Vandalia, Ohio when your dad worked for Slick Airlines. My recollection is that Grandma Greene took me when I was about 12, my first plane flight, and that I overheard your parents and Henry Front talking into the night.
We're getting ready to leave for the next Hamm wedding on Tuesday; back Sept. 16 with my election in the interim. Gives new meaning to the absentee ballot.
Hope to see you again before long.
Mrs. Hess's was always my favorite house in Wheeling. It's amazing, and designed by your grandfather. Wow!
Cheers,
Chris

In reference to the home in Wheeling which belonged to Elizabeth Hess, for some reason I believed she named it "Dreamwold." Elizabeth was your grandfather's aunt (not great aunt.) Following her death it was occupied by the Hess family.

Sam You are correct. That is Grandpap. He was a war correspondent sitting at a type writer in HQ in Europe according to the story Bom Bom told me.
From an infectious disease point, he must have been very strong because he escaped the 1918 flu which was raging then and Bom Bom’s brother Lawrence died of it in Europe.

Kudos on the Kuglen website. It’s great.

KK and Bill are visiting us this week and we are excited to see them.

I couldn't figure out how to write a coment on the blog so here I am. I'll # the pictures begining with the picture of the five children in back of the house as #1. In picture #4 (blue trash can in front of house) you can see back portion of the house (painted white, lower right). You can also see that part of the house in picture #1 behind the Kuglen kid's. It is my guess that the picture of the five children was taken (picture #6 of the backyard) just on the other side of the white fence, which looks new like the garage and probably did not exist when taken. Enjoying the trip. Rick
